PARAMEDIC DIVISION
Working in the oil and gas industry often places our personnel in remote
locations far removed from rapid, quality emergency and general medical
care. We, at Rig Safety Zone., seek to rectify this situation by providing
certified, trained paramedics to staff your oil and gas locations. This
service provides high quality medical personnel to reduce the severity of
injury and illness, as well as, increasing the moral of the employee and his
family by knowing that advanced, highly trained medics are on your location
and have accessibility to them 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
All of our paramedics are either State Certified or NREMT- Paramedics and are also certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support or PHTLS and have completed our Advanced Skills Training Program. This Advanced Skills Training Program teaches the paramedic knowledge and skills needed to perform in the remote environment. These skills are not part of the standard paramedic curriculum, but are needed to fulfill the needs of the patients seen in this environment. Some of these skills are clinical assessment, suturing, antibiotic therapy, advanced eye and ear assessment and treatment, upper respiratory diagnosis and treatment, as well as many other skills. Our World Wide Medics are further trained in layered closures, 12-lead EKG interpretation, Thrombolytic Therapy, "tropical" diseases, advanced vascular access, etc. This course is given to the paramedic and he has demonstrated competency in these skills prior to his being placed on location. All paramedics have a minimum of two years paramedic level street experience in a 911 system, some have years in HSE, and some have Combat Medic experience. Prior to being employed by DST Service Inc. each prospective employee goes through a background check and a medical evaluation for prior illness and injuries. Our paramedics are mandated by company policy to participate in our Safety Plus ONE Continuing Education Program. This program assures that our medics maintain and improve the standard of care required by Rig safety Zone, as well as, increase the level of knowledge they have learned in both traditional and remote environment Paramedicine. Twice annually, our paramedics attend our refresher training program, which refreshes the skills learned in the Advanced Clinical Training Program, allows the Medical Director to review each medic's skill level, and allows new techniques and information to be presented. Our paramedics are under the medical supervision of our Medical Director; Dr. Mike Kotler M.D. Dr. Kotler is a Medical Director for several Medical Facilities based in Louisiana. He is completely familiar with the industrial and remote environment and the medical care needed to protect the personnel working therein. Dr. Kotler and his Staff is available 24 hr/day for medical consultation with the paramedics on location. He reviews all patient contacts for proper patient care and procedures. Dr. Kotler also has direct oversight of the Training and Continuing Education Programs, both of which he actively participates in. We utilize the latest in electronic reporting and information delivery. Telemedicine programs are also available if the need arises. Rig safety Zone utilizes an equipment package that is better designed for the remote and ship board environment. We use a standard medical package that is then modified to suit a particular region or location, i.e. tropical environment, desert environment, cold environment, altitude, etc. We strive to maintain the most advanced, yet cost effective equipment to provide high quality medical care. Rig Safety Zone is capable of providing acute emergency care, as well as, routine clinical services and health promotions and preventions. Our World Wide Paramedics are supported by our parent Company; DST Service Inc.. We have developed the infrastructure necessary to provide the support needed for our medical operations in foreign locations. Rig safety Zone's World Wide Paramedics are highly trained and evaluated by our Medical Department, that includes Dr. Mike Kotler M.D., at DST Service Inc. www.dstserviceinc.com Medical Director
